Happy Anniversary to Family Guy Fans
A couple of months back Mr B and I completed our SIX years of marriage. Yes that’s a big number. Not as big as the years that my parents have put in their marriage (i.e. 32), but definitely big enough to leave me amazed.
When I look back now to the day I was married, I don’t think I ever anticipated spending SIX years with Mr B. It is not that I was doubtful; on the other hand, if ever I was sure about love, it was then. It is just that when I fell in love I thought a vague “forever” rather than thinking in terms of a definite number.
Recently, I read through 7 Stages of Marriage. I realized that in these six years, I have gone through each of these seven stages – from passion to explosion, from realization to completion. And the coming years that my marriage will see will have these same stages getting repeated again and again. But this is one repetition that I might never get tired of. More than ups and downs of my relationship, these stages seem like the rhythm that my love life fancies dancing to.
I have already established that Mr B and me are a little weird. While most couples go for quick getaways and fancy dinners for their anniversaries, we prefer spending the day doing absolute nerd stuff. And for 6 years in a row, our biggest anniversary day tradition is to make anniversary cards for each other.
This is how it works – both of us finalize an anniversary card design. Of course, the design is a reflection of our personalities and the relationship we share. Then we both make our own versions of that same card and gift it to each other. Weird right? That is precisely why it is lovely as well.
We have enjoyed watching Family Guy together. Actually the feeling is more than enjoy. We actually get a kick out of watching it. Others might consider Seth MacFarlane trashy, we consider him an evil genius. Family Guy is one of ‘OUR’ things that we do together as a couple. It’s like when we feel a little distant from one another, Family Guy brings us back in each other’s arms.
So for this year, we focused our anniversary card making efforts on Family Guy. Luckily we found inspiration at Etsy.
