Do You Want Hugs? Valentine’s Day Hug Card Craft for Kids
Am I bombarding you with craft projects? Of course I am! But it’s about to be Valentine’s Day and that does mean a lot of craft projects. So please bear!
This one’s pretty simple. It is a card that gives big hugs and it is perfect for kids around 5 years of age who are gaining independence at craft skills of tracing, folding, cutting and gluing. Not a lot of help required, kids can do it themselves with a little guidance.
Valentine’s Day Hug Card Craft for Kids
What You Will Need
2 Chart paper sheets of different colors
1 Newspaper
1 envelope
Miscellaneous craft things – pencil, colors, scissors, glue and ruler
How To Go About It
Trace your hand on a chart paper.
Cut the traced hand.
Now trace the ‘traced hand cut-out’ and cut it. You will end up having two identical hand cut-outs. Identical hand cut-outs because we want to overlap them when we make the card.
One hand cut-out will be the front of the card and the other will be the back of the card.
On the hand cut-out that would be the front of our card, you are going to write an “I Love You” message for your valentine. I wrote “I Love You Pa” on a rough paper and asked Little B to find and cut these letters from the newspaper.
Arrange the letters in order and glue them over one of the hand cut-outs.
Keep the hand cut-outs aside.
Take the other chart paper. Cut a long strip, about 1 inch wide and 18 inches long. Little B wanted the strip to be really long, so I guess we ended up taking about 30 inches long strip.
Fold the strip zig-zag, the way you fold a zig-zag paper fan.
Hold the folded strip tightly and glue its ends between the two hand cut-outs. Make sure that the side with the “I Love You” message remains on the top and that both hands overlap each other well.
Once the glue dries, open the zig-zag strip gently and write on the middle “This Much.” So the complete message on the card would be like “I Love You…This Much.” When your valentine opens the card, it would be like getting a big hug!
Gently fold the strip back and tuck your card neatly in an envelope.
Wait for Valentine’s Day to surprise your valentine with this card!
