Little B’s The Little Prince Moment
Remember this boa constrictor’s drawing from The Little Prince?
It was probably 2002 when I read Antoine de Saint-Exupéry‘s classic The Little Prince. I was amazed to read Little Prince’s imaginative yet innocent perspective on things. Though I enjoyed the book, I always considered it as just “fiction” – one of those things that seem real when you read them, but they couldn’t possibly be real in reality. I didn’t accept that children do actually carry this creative, untouched and out of box thinking with themselves.
I read the book, I ‘dig’ it, but I never truly understood Le Petit Prince.
Well, in my defense, I had never really interacted with a kid till then.
And now that I spend every waking minute with Little B – listening her words, observing her actions and seeing world from her eyes – I feel like I am watching the book unfold right in front of me.
The other day, Little B’s teacher asked her a simple question – “Name a thing that is round in shape.”
Little B’s answer?
“A snake when it sits and coils.”
