Quick Tip: Plump Up Raisins Before Using

Quick Tip: Plump Up Raisins Before Using

Raisins are a must for desserts. Be it cakes or cookies. Even Indian desserts like kheer or halwa seem incomplete without them.

The problem is that raisins, though packed with taste, are shriveled, dry and chewy. Often cooking them does makes them a little juicy, but not enough. The solution to this problem is rehydrating them. My mother’s way of rehydrating raisins was to soak them in lukewarm water for 15-30 minutes. That does work well but I have found a better way to do that.

Obsessed by How to Train Your Dragon 2

The story line of How to Train Your Dragon 2 is predictable. What stand out in the movie are those little things here and there that instantly touch the mellow side of your heart and stay with you long after the movie is over. With ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2,’ Dreamworks shines – may be as bright, or may be even brighter than Pixar’s stars.

Owl Moon by Jane Yolen (Father’s Day Gift Idea)

Owl Moon by Jane Yolen (Father’s Day Gift Idea)

We are a family of book lovers – Pa B is a book lover, Ma B (that’s me) is a book lover and we were trying our best that Little B would also grow up to be a book lover. Therefore, I was certain that the first gift Pa B will receive as a father would be a book. I started researching and one name kept cropping up again and again – Owl Moon by Jane Yolen.

Mozzarella in Carrozza with a touch of Margherita

Mozzarella in Carrozza with a touch of Margherita

Mozzarella in Carrozza is ‘mozzarella in a carriage.’ Slices of mozzarella are sandwiched between bread slices , dunked in eggs and fried. Essentially this breakfast recipe is supposed to have just the cheese between bread slices. This recipe has a panino alla margherita kind of twist to it. Along with cheese I also add tomatoes and basil! Let’s get started.

Confetti Poppers – Father’s Day Craft

Confetti Poppers – Father’s Day Craft

Since Little B has learned the word ‘confetti’ she likes saying it, she likes making it and she likes throwing it in the air every time she feels something important is taking place. For her, celebration = confetti. She keeps cutting paper into bits and stores them

Recycling Old Jeans into New Shorts – DIY Trendy Shorts

One of my big time guilty pleasures is watching Youtubers. I know it is not something that I should be proud of, but it is what it is. Most of them may be shallow, but some of them are actually real, some of them are

Oven Roasted Tomato Salsa – Salsa Roja Asada

Oven Roasted Tomato Salsa – Salsa Roja Asada

I love doing quick fixes and may be because of that I am more of a pico di gallo girl. Just chop it up and I am all done. However, for my Mexican dinner night a couple of weeks ago, I decided to go to a road less traveled by me. I decided to make salsa out of oven roasted vegetables.

Grandfather’s Birthday Card Craft For Kids

Grandfather’s Birthday Card Craft For Kids

With all the birthdays that the month of May saw, the closest to my heart was my father’s. I love him but unfortunately we have a love-hate relationship. We spend so much time fighting that we forget to tell each other that deep down we love each other more than anything else in the world.
With so much love it is only obvious that I wanted to give him something personal, heart-touched and handmade on his birthday.

Listening to The Weepies All Through The Night

Listening to The Weepies All Through The Night

I am seriously addicted to the album ‘Say I Am You’ by The Weepies. I have been listening to it all through the night, night after night. The first song that I heard of The Weepies was from the Epic movie soundtrack – Same Changes. I was mesmerized. I remember going on a really long road trip while listening to

…I walk away, I walk away, But you linger…

Sesame Street Inspired ‘Hand Painted – T is for Turkey’

So it was time for another round of crazy activity session with Little B. We were watching Sesame Street (boy, does that show ever stops amazing me!) and we were inspired, literally. An artist was painting something on a hand and kids were having fun
